What Can Complement a Dermaplaning Session?

While dermaplaning is compatible with a range of treatments, it excellent with injectables, such as BOTOX® and dermal fillers, that address wrinkles, creases, and volume loss. Derrington Dermatology also routinely pairs it with mild chemical peels.

When used together, these treatments can revitalize the entire face. Another complementary treatment to dermaplaning is microneedling. Microneedling creates numerous micro-channels in the skin. Each of these channels encourages healing in the surrounding tissue, prompting the whole face to be smoother, tighter, and revitalized.

Dermaplaning has the best results if repeated every three to four weeks. Derrington Dermatology can help you figure out a schedule. Each time you get dermaplaned, you’re removing about two to three weeks’ worth of dead skin cells.

Dermaplaning will not make your hair grow back thicker or darker.  Once your hair begins to grow back, it might feel different because the hair was cut straight across, but it’s actually the same texture as it was before and it will grow at the same speed.

Dermaplaning is a low-risk procedure. Side effects may include slight redness in your face in the hours after the treatment. Some people develop whiteheads on their skin in the day or two after dermaplaning. Infection and scarring are rare.

Dermaplaning eliminates fine wrinkles. While it won’t do much for those deeper wrinkles, it can eliminate the fine wrinkles that begin to develop over time. The wrinkle is actually removed (yes, removed!) from the skin, creating the appearance of a smooth complexion. The results can last up to 6 months.
