Dr. Alan Snyder

Meet Dr. Alan Snyder, a board-certified dermatologist with a focus on patient-centered care. His approach emphasizes accessibility, shared decision-making, continuity, and patient education.

Dr. Snyder earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master of Science in Clinical Research (MSCR) from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), where he also served as Class President. During his dermatology residency at MUSC, he was named Chief Resident. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and History, with a minor in Chemistry, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Snyder has contributed to the field through over 70 publications, chapters, and presentations at national and international conferences. His clinical interests span general, surgical, and medical dermatology, with experience in treating skin conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis. He has a particular interest in managing complex cases, including those with genetic, autoimmune, and connective tissue conditions. He is also experienced in cosmetic dermatology, including the use of laser treatments, fillers, and neurotoxins.

In addition to his clinical work at Derrington Dermatology, Dr. Snyder teaches as an Assistant Professor at MUSC, where he oversees hospital dermatology consults and mentors dermatology trainees. He also volunteers at the CARES Free Medical Clinic in Mount Pleasant, contributing his expertise to support community health.

Outside of work, Dr. Snyder enjoys outdoor activities such as surfing, hunting, gardening, and running (always with sun protection). Above all, he cherishes time spent with his talented wife and son.
